I met Jesus when I was really little; I gave my life to him when I was four. I'm sixteen years old and I'm still getting to know him. It takes time to get to know a person. You talk with them, you spend time with them, and you laugh with them. Overtime you develop a deeper relationship with them. Getting to know God takes effort, just like getting to know any other person. You just don't wake up years after becoming a Christian and say "Hey I finally completely understand Jesus!". Nope, it doesn't work that way. You pray countless prayers; talking to God about any and everything. You read his word and find out what he's like and what he does. You go through hard times with him and find out that he will be there for you no matter what. You find that he's everything he says he is.
A relationship takes effort on both parts. God has always fulfilled his part. We're the ones who struggle to see what a gift it is to be able to have a relationship with the King of the universe. I find it peculiar that people don't want this amazing relationship. It's changed my life; I have purpose and hope. You have to work at developing a relationship with The Lord. I'm not saying you don't know him when you give your life to Jesus; I'm saying you don't know him as well as you will. I think the best part of any relationship is getting to know the person better. So I plan on spending the rest of my life (and eternity) getting to know my Savior better. I hope you choose too as well.
